I was enjoying Saturday brunch at a sidewalk cafe in my hometown, people watching and remembering…
When I was young, I dreamed of retiring early… After all, I got an early start in the work force so I would have plenty of money and time to enjoy my family, my horses, my love of nature, and to explore the world…wouldn’t I?
And then life got in the way….
The house, the cars, the children, the aging parents with special needs… there was a steady outflow of money that did not keep up with what was coming in.
I woke up one day to find myself totally unprepared for retirement.
I felt I’d missed the boat and it was too late to make any meaningful change.
I was going to have to continue working with no end in sight.
My dreams seemed to be evaporating before my eyes…At least I had a stable income though…
Then the unthinkable happened…
I’m Debbie Hinnant and I’ve been a registered nurse for all my working life…for the last part of my career using my skills to train others
The shock came when my employer announced they were moving my job nearly 2000 miles away from where I lived. The choices were to relocate to the other side of the country or retire early.
Staying close to my family meant everything to me, so I opted to retire.
The steady paycheck ended. No more 401k contributions.
My pension was a fraction of my salary. Not how I imagined my life to be.
I had to find a way out
Because at this stage of life no one was going to employ me…and I needed more income!
I started researching on the internet to see what was “out there” as I was certain I was not alone
I was right…
I came across a story about a couple around my age who had faced similar challenges. They had found a way to change their future with an online business.
Was my mind open? Was I prepared to take a look?
Yes indeed! I was ready to find out more…I had nothing to lose and potentially everything to gain.
I registered to attend a free seminar to learn more.
I have to admit when the alarm went off that Saturday morning I entertained the thought of not going. But something inside me told me to just get in the car and go.
As a result, my life has forever changed…
I discovered something I never knew existed…
I became part of a community of “retiree entrepreneurs” who are committed to making their retirement years the best years of their lives and having the money to do it…
And committed to helping you do the same
Discovering I was not alone, my fear of having no experience with an online business disappeared.
As for the couple whose story first captured my attention… they are following their dreams, traveling the world, helping others.
And me…. my life in retirement is better than I ever thought possible!
